Surveys and polls with real question types
Most of what makes a survey usable is the question types. Reconstructing a matrix out of radio buttons is where survey projects go wrong.
A survey lives or dies on whether the instrument matches the question. Ranking, matrix, linear scale, and slider are not decoration — they are the difference between analysable data and a column of free text you have to code by hand afterwards. FormXen ships them as field types.
Length is the other half. A survey that asks everyone everything gets abandoned in the middle; a survey that routes gets finished. Conditional rules and wizard steps mean each respondent answers the branch that applies to them, and calculations and piping let a later question reference an earlier answer instead of asking again.
When the survey is really an assessment, quiz scoring turns it into one: score the answers and show the result on submit. And in every case the exit is the same — search the responses, export CSV or Excel, or take a single response as a PDF.
